Bennington Elementary PTO FAQ’s
How do I become a member of the PTO?
When your child starts school at Bennington Elementary, you are automatically a member of the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). To stay in the know with what's going on with the PTO, be sure to get sign-up with membership toolkit or attend a meeting!
How much are the PTO dues?
PTO membership is FREE to parents with kids at Bennington Elementary!
What does the PTO fundraising money go toward?
Each year, the Bennington Elementary PTO raises funds to provide our students and teachers with additional educational and recreational opportunities, beyond those provided by the District. For example, the PTO provides funds for additional field trips, assemblies, book vending machine books, playground improvements as needed. We also contribute funding for playground equipment, classroom parties and track and field day. PTO dues, as well as money raised through various fundraisers, go towards these expenses. Around the school, you can see PTO funds used to buy new playground equipment, technology and supplies for students and teachers, and landscaping materials.
What am I required to do by joining PTO?
You are required to do absolutely nothing! By setting up an account on Membership Toolkit, you receive PTO updates and information, school directory information, and opportunities to volunteer your time to help the PTO with various activities. You are not required to attend meetings, volunteer, or run for the board. You determine the level of participation that is comfortable for you!
When are PTO meetings?
We have 4 Quarterly meetings at Bennington Elementary from 6:30-7:30pm. We know your time is valuable so we try hard to keep meetings at 1 hour. Kids are always welcome if that prevents you from being able to attend.
Do I have to attend every PTO meeting?
No, you are not required to attend meetings. You can come to a meeting when it is convenient for you. We will always post our meeting minutes on the website.
What happens at a PTO meeting?
At a PTO meeting, we discuss upcoming and on-going PTO activities. At times, we may have visitors to our meeting to update us on current district happenings. The PTO President generally runs the meeting, but PTO members are encouraged to ask questions, voice concerns, and suggest new ideas for our PTO.
